after charge off

They were all sold to junk debt buyers, Asset Acceptance, Daniels and Norelli, and one other outfit.
My question is this...after calling for a few weeks, they all have quit, except for a token call once a week or so. I am in a somewhat better financial shape than I was and could perhaps settle some of these if they were willing. Do I contact them to settle or wait on them to call me?
also, I assume the credit report damage was done after the original credtitor posted the charge off and late payments........will not paying these junk debt buyers harm my credit further?
opinions ? experiences?
Thanks in advance
