So long story short, over the past 2 years I ran into some financial problems. Slowly but surely I was able to pay off a Chase CC and one from BofA. The only outstanding debt I have is with an AMEX card with a balance of roughly $5,000.

Today I received a call from Zwicker and Associates and they were very insistent on me putting down a $400 payment and set up a monthly payment plan. The guy whom I spoke with said this was for my AMEX Optima card. My card which I owe on was a blue cash, I've never had an optima card. I don't know if this matter or not. The guy also wanted me to open some sort of checking account through them, that way they could easily take out monthly payments(claimed it would make it easier for me). I declined that option obviously. Anyways, I was wondering what I should do. I don't want to get sued by these guys, should I start by sending them a debt validation letter? Any input or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!
Yes, you should send a written request to the collection agency to validate the debt. If they can't validate the debt properly, then you don't have to pay any money to them. Just send them a Cease and Desist letter via certified mail. However, if they can validate the debt, then you can work out an alternative repayment plan with them.
