nail and mail in ny

I received a summons the other day (ny state supreme court). Nobody was home so they taped it the door. So far, I haven't received the "mail" part of the nail and mail. Also, jan 31st is hand-written on the summons (along with index number which is very hard to read).
What recourse do I have if I don't receive something in the mail and/or they wrote down jan 31st as the day they delivered the summons. It seems like it boils down to my word against the process server and plaintiff which is an argument I'm sure I would lose in the eyes of the court.
