never receive proof of settlement

I called this company to request information about what they have reported to my credit, they just gave me my ssn number and that it was a valid collection, Im trying to rebuilt my credit and just agreed to pay, they charged my credit card and never send me a settlement letter or proof of payment, until now still open in my credit report what I should do?

Did you make a written agreement with the concerned company? Did they send you proper documents proving that you really owe money to them? If not, then you have made a vital mistake. Anyway, contact the concerned company and ask them to send you the payment receipts to you. Request them to update the account status on your credit report.
