Hello,
I have received several calls from Mr. Hazel from the Paul Kupferstein law office in the last week. He has also called friends and my workplace. I defaulted on a pay day loan from the Cash Store. I had borrowed $1,500.00 and Mr. Hazel said that the amount owing is now $2,281.44. He said that if I didn't send him at least 50% today he would be suing me which could include a charge of fraud. He implied he would be contacting the police here in Fort McMurray.
I have never had anything like this happen to me before so of course I was scared. I borrowed money from my family so that I could send him $1,000.00 today. He used a term "Write of Settlement". I asked if I would make some sort of payment arrangements that I could afford but he said they were not a collection agency. He talked about me needing to retain a lawyer which would be $5,000.00.
I sent him an e-mail money transfer for $1,000.00 this morning which he said would be put in a trust account for the Cash Store but this money would not be given to the Cash Store until the entire amount of $2,281.44 was paid in full.
I would appreciate any info about what has happened and whether the Cash Store will receive this money that I have sent this law firm this morning. Should I send any more money to this law firm or should I try to settle this with the Cash Store directly.

Odds are you just got scammed royally!! Everything he said to you is ILLEGAL and a lie! Go to the payday loan section here to learn how to deal with illegal pdl's. Do not make another payment and ignore his calls until you have read through that section and learn how to deal with them as 99% of them are illegal, you ONLY owe exactly what you borrowed. Not to be mean but the money you paid to them kiss it good bye! PDL's are not legal is most states and you can NOT be arrested for it, and they will tell its check fraud but it is NOT. Call cash store before you send anymore money and please read through the payday loan section here to learn your rights. Dont be another victim
