PDls need to be registered with the Texas Secretary of State as
PDls need to be registered with the Texas Secretary of State as they typically operate as a Credit Service Organization (CSO). You can search the CSO database at https://direct.sos.state.tx.us/cso/csosearch.asp to find the registration. You may find it difficult to find the companies in the database. However, look at your loan documents. When the company operates as a CSO, you usually find a CSO agreement in the loan documents. The CSO document will tell you what services you are paying for and how much, etc. You can usually find the name that the CSO is registered as in this document.
Ace Cash Express and Cash N Go are both registred CSOs in Texas. I don't know about the others.
Now the question that I have not found a definitive answer to is if you complete a PDL over the Internet and the company is not registered, does that mean the company is doing business illegally in Texas?
