I have a question regarding some phone calls, that we have been receiving from some indian accents. My telephone number is unpublished, some how these people probably skip traced my land-line and found us through that. They have been calling threatening us saying we have to have an attorney of record.

Yesterday they called my husband's cell phone again, you can't even understand who she is or what she's saying except you must return our call don't ignore it, or retain attorney of record. I want to know how go about tracing these fake bastards and suing them. I'm already in the process of suing Vision credit solutions for fake court summons impersonating a lawyer and threatening vulgar phone calls. Has anyone else experienced these types of calls? They just say obtain an attorney for record, you don't ignore these calls.

First time was a man saying he was alvin russel i googled it came up with SCAM, then he changed his name to Smith or something like that same exact accent, same guy. Now he's got a lady working for him, there has to be a way to stop these idiot scammers. I refuse to give him my checking account info and I dare em to show up at my house with papers i will call the police. I'm fairly positive they watch people like us online as well, or these boards maybe I'm just paranoid? I just want to know if anyone has information on how to trace these guys so i can file a suit? or find a way to stop em altogether? This is crazy how fake debt collectors can lie and sleep at night. Thanks any info is greatly appreciated it.

Happens all the time. Unfortunately, trying to sue would likely be a waste of time since these people aren't even in our country and not subject to our laws (just as we aren't subject to theirs). The best thing to do is answer the phone 1 time, tell them you are aware it's a scam and they won't be collecting anything from you and then never answer again. You can file a police report using the phone number they're calling from. Other than that, you just have to wait them out.

Okay I wasn't sure, if I file a police report on the phone number what do i say? This lady actually said she was a lawyer and wanted our attorney for record. Was kind of funny she asked for my husband's full name he said he told her she had the wrong number. I'm fraid to call the police though because it's a business line that she is harassing him on can we do that?

Tell them you're receiving phone calls from some Eastern Indian country trying to scam you and steal your identity. Tell them what's happening. If you don't want to file the police report then just stop talking to them. They'll eventually stop calling when they realize they aren't getting your money.

I had a call just like yours. From an Eastern Indian kind of accent. I asked them for the name of the company they represent, they said they e-mailed me, they said they had me in court so I asked for a dockett number, they threatend me with jail and that they felt sorry for me. So I cussed them out and told them never call my job he told me he would call 10 time if he wanted, I told him to go F himself and hung up. He called back and demand that I not hang up on him ever again, He did this about 4 times. I don't know what's to be done, but I am not giving him one dime. I called the company that I supposedly owed money and our business was concluded 2 .years ago. When I mentioned this fact, he faltered and said that he didn't know what was happening. I know my name is being sold over and over again. At this point I have to do something, my credit is on the line out there some where.

Unfortunately it is next to impossible to sue these guys and they know that. I have found a way that has a higher success rate and it can't hurt you to try it. When they call (not the work calls) just shoot the breeze, inquire as to the day there, what is his/her favorite book..then go into your favorite book...anything..just chat happily and don't respond to anything they threaten except with more happy chatter.

This pisses them off to no end....and sometimes they give up because they realize you are getting some sort of fun out of the calls and it wastes their time.

We received another call from this guy again, I traced the call to palmdale california. However when the guy called it's the same exact guy he changed his name to Alex Gonsalez. I contacted the city in which the phone numbers are calling from, they said it's a scam. We already know this. But I'm kind of concerned because he left another voice mail message, said he was going to take my husband to court. He's also contacting his place of employment. When I contacted the city of palmedale, california they told me these guys are located in canada and purchasing phone numbers which are impossible to trace. She also said to go to the FTC website, and search for check cashing scam. Whoever these guys are hacked into a PDL website or whatever it's called database, and now has people's information SSN#, checking account numbers etc. and using that information to try and scare people into giving them permission to take out money. I haven't budged yet but im thinking of creating a website, to help try and find these people. Not sure what good it'll do but the public needs to be aware of what they are really doing and it's against the law to scare people into paying a bill. I know check n go and magnum cash advance also sold our accounts. So I am thinking they hacked that database for sure.

Honestly why bother? Its a good bet these jackrabbits are out of the country. It is places like here that help to get the word out, but hey a website dedicated to cracking down on these bozos can't be bad!

They will simply keep trying to scare you into a payment, as I said before the only way to deal with them is to never accept their calls, or always accept and shoot the breeze.

since they use technology that bounces signals they use that to give the impression of the number being in your area.even a phone trace can't place their real location so don't waste your time.
