If I get collection calls or for that matter summons will my job be affected because of all this? I have a govt. job. Please help

When collection agencies call you repeatedly at your office regarding a debt, then your employer may develop a negative impression on you. However, you won't lose your job for that. If the creditor/collection agency files a lawsuit against you and obtains a judgment order from the court, then they can garnish your wages.

I work for the gov. and we are not permitted to have incoming personal calls that are not an emergency. All personal calls must be done on our cell phones. We have a tracking system for incoming and outgoing calls on the office phones so mgmt. knows how many phone calls are coming in and going out and to what number.

If this is the original creditor, you should tell them not to call you at work. Try to make payment arrangements.

If this is a collection agency, send them(in writing, certified mail, RRR) a letter requesting validation of the debt and also state you are not permitted phone calls at work (it's embarrasssing when someone else answers). Once you receive debt validation, you can decide what to do about your account. If they don't validate, then send them a cease and desist letter.

If the creditor is a payday loan, make sure they are legal in your state. If not, you only owe the amount borrowed.

Hope this helps.
