I have just received a letter for this national collection Bureau located in NV, Sparks and i just called them and ask what was the collection for it was for $361.03 out of $1,000 of a mail in credit card. i signed up for, by mail and was trying to establish my credit history but unfortunately, i did'nt in the year 2000 and i have not paid it since, this was a false credit card company. and this letter came in by mail and this is the company First Collection Bureau. should i pay them with a settlement offer of 60.17 3 payment of $60.17within 30 days? I called them and said they it was the credit card, i got but I thought it was my phone bill from 2007 from Verizon and could remember is was 361.03 last time i seen my bill from Verizon.

what should i do?

Hi!
Welcome to the forums!

Before accepting a settlement offer, you should ask them to validate the debt. This way, you can know whether you really owe any money to them. If they are not able to validate the debt, then send a cease and desist letter to them. If they are able to validate the debt, then you should negotiate a settlement with them.
