What you probably are referring is debt settlement where you negotiate with your creditors. There is a wealth of information on this website on debt settlement. You can do it yourself (check the DIY at the top) and save money, or find reputable debt settlement company.
You can also go for debt management, whereby a non-proft would negotiate lower payments, lower interest rate, but you would ultimately pay what you owe.
