I received a call from Peachtree Law Center. They claim they are a law firm not a collection agency. Has anyone delt with them? I reside in Illinois and had a payday loan with The Cash Store which I defaulted on. By balance was $964.58. I have confirmed with the collection department at CS that the balance was $964.58 and the account was sold to a debt withholding company in February. Peachtree is stating my balance is $1314.58. Im not disputing the $964.58, however I don't understand the amount they are claiming is now due. They are telling me the amount went up due to interest and fees by the Cash Store. This makes no sense to me. Any advice?

being in ILLINOIS myself peachtree is a pdl JDB.basically cash store sold the debt to peachtree.a question is cash store a storefront?never heard of them before.btw a JDB is not allowed to charge interest once they buy a balance, but if cash store sold the debt then all bets are off.let me check and see about the cash store.just know the peachtree is a bottomfeeder, and will try to use scare tactics to collect.

okay cash store is a store front, but again peachtree is an unlicensed in IL bottomfeeder.next tiome they call demand something in writing.state you will not speak to them again until you get it.btw they can claim they are a law firm, but if they buy a debt then try to collect they are subject to the FDCPA.also do a search in the bar top right.there are a couple of threads on this pdl JDB.it seems legit and legal loan places are selling debts to bottomfeeders.one last thing even though cash store is legal doesn't mean the place they sold it to is.
