Oh please.....why?? This person is clueless....a reincarnation of Paul Cahill and SC and numerous others. After I log on in the morning and delete spam, I have to go in and monitor the divel that she has posted. MOREOVER, (sorry I couldnt resist!) most of the time she doesnt even answer the question, just goes off on a tangent. Good Nelly and her seem to tag team posting useless answers. Personally I dont think either are in the US....

We cannot give awards to people who cannot answer a simple question with a correct answer. If this board is going to maintain any credibility, her nomination needs to be withdrawn.

It's my understanding that those 1,000 posts need to be substantive. I don't see where Anna or Nelly have reached what I would consider to be 1,000 substantive posts. Soap, Shazz, Paul and I are constantly correcting both of these people. They both either offer blatantly incorrect info or add nothing of substance to the post.

If you read the HOF info here:
What is the purpose of Hall of Fame Club?
The purpose of Hall of Fame Club is to honor those individuals who provide helpful support to people when they're in financial problems. It is recognition of the social service they provide in helping others. Moreover, every time a member posts a query in the forum, there are several others who actually benefit from reading the posts.

The DebtCC Hall of Fame Club is a step towards honoring and rewarding our community members for their valuable services. We are proud of our community and hope to come up with further rewards and recognition from time to time.
I think it clearly shows that this is intended to be a reward to those members who spend their time and energy giving thoughtful, helpful advice to members of the forum. Anyone can get 1,000 posts. I believed the intention was to reward those who reached the 1,000 "quality" posts mark.

Is that the intention or is it just the number that matters? If it's just the number, why bother with the voting?

Soaplady & Ohiogal: I had never read the info on the rewards. My bad.... I came to the website for help which I received and greatly appreciated. After I got my problems underway, I would answer questions where I thought I could help. Once I got into my credit card settlements, I felt a little more knowledgeable so I answered posts.

No one was more surprised than I when the moderator appointed me as a debt samaritan. I was honored. and then moderator. Wow!

Now I have a compulsion to help others who are in financial trouble.

So, I really didn't know there were rules, so to speak. I will know better the next time we are asked to vote.

Dear Mods..

I thought this was an award for having over 1,000 posts?

You are right. In most of the cases we have selected members keeping in mind both post numbers and members' helpful attitude towards others. Even accepting an unanswered thread/post or directing queries to the right Moderator/Expert for answer is considered helpful. We have had members in the past (old members would know) who got voted in the HoF club ONLY because of the positive energy they used to bring in the forums. I have mentioned before that IF members give wrong answers in any thread then the best place to rectify them is in that thread itself. You can also send the thread url where correction were required so that we can check if they are making the same mistakes again. This will also help us in tracking the exact number of wrong post a member is making. A member cannot be right in all matters, it is here a forum comes into action where all get a chance to share their opinion, knowledge and experience.

Quote:
I would think the debt Samaritan and moderator titles would be more in keeping with the "quality" of the advice.

We generally select "Moderators" and "Experts" for giving quality advice.

No one has the time for shooting all her wrong posts over here....

Opinions she shares....knowledge and experience?? She has never posted any credit problem of her own. and has no experience to speak of. One of my biggest beefs is she does answer the question asked by the poster.....her responses are off base and meaningless divel...Good Nelly is guilty of this too.

Here's my beef. If they don't know the answer, why even attempt to answer. I won't mention any names but there are a couple of members who tend to navigate toward the payday loan forum, they answer questions they don't even have a clue about. For example, it is pretty well known that Cashnetusa is a payday lender, however, a particular member thought they (cashnetusa) was a 3rd party collector and provided information irrelevant to the original poster.

Jason,

First, the recent attack on SoapLady was uncalled for. I think something should be done about that. At least a warning?

Second, we all make mistakes; we are human; we aren't perfect. Consistently giving out the same bad advice even after being corrected multiple times is not a mistake. It's a choice to give bad information. The only reason I can think of that someone would continue to do that is a) they're stupid or b) they're trying to get posting credits. I think Nelly is way more guilty of this than Anna. Anna's attack on Soap however, is another matter.

Just my opinion.

You asked for specific examples; I'm listing them below. You'll find examples for both Nelly and Anna where they've given misinformation, incomplete information and/or information that serves no purpose.

I have been off the site for a long time, except to delete spam once in a while and answer a quick question maybe. I just came back to see this thread as a person who is completely neutral as I do not know either of these people. I am not familiar with their posts. It seems to me, on the outside looking in, that there is nothing constructive going on here. If there is an issue why not try to solve it rather than feed it?. It will only grow like fertilized dandelions. Has anyone offered constructive criticism to these two? I would not know I am just asking.
Soap Lady, just be glad she is only a financial writer and not an advisor. I am a writer and I know ----- about what I write about half of the time. I just look it up and paraphrase it.

They've both been offered advice and corrected privately and publicly and continue to give the same bad advice.I think what fueled this particular frenzy is the fact that they've been put up for HOF status. I'm all for live and let live but, people come here for help. As "experts," "mods," "samaritans," and "HOF" members, I believe it's our responsibility to give them sound advice. If one doesn't know the answer, one should keep his/her mouth shut. That's just my opinion. I can tell you that I will NEVER vote for Anna or Nelly, until they stop giving the same crappy, incomplete and sometimes incoherent advice to the people who come here out of desperation looking for a lifeline.

Dear Mods

In order to avoid confusion as to whose post is right or wrong and to minimize disagreement amongst members, we are shifting our forum discussions in a different format i.e Social Answer. Here the main focus will be to answer ONLY original poster's queries and not start a discussion as to who is right or wrong. The credibility of an answer will be judged by a vote. A good answer gets a positive vote while a wrong answer gets a negative vote. The answer which gets the highest vote will come up at the top. Based on answers, a member will get points for his/her Reputation.

We hope this will help avoid argument between members :)

Friends

Its not a question about answers being judged rather encouraging relevant answers to the OP's queries and thereby discouraging irrelevant answers from members. So if your answer is satisfactory, it will automatically get votes from the OP as well as other members.

In this way, we look forward to stop unnecessary arguments amongst members since our aim is to cater to the queries of the original posters.

I don't know about anyone else, but I do research before I answer a poster if I don't know the answer offhand. I check out state websites for information - changes have been made in the last year for numerous states especially on the payday loans. That takes a lot of time sometimes.

How will the OP know they are supposed to vote or leave feedback?

I want to give the OP helpful information and not just a generic answer. Maybe we should revert to the former way and if an answer is generic, don't give the "expert" full credit.....Just my thoughts.

Dear Mods

The reason behind shifting our forum model to Question Answer model is to directly answer OP's question. While answering there may be different opinions. If you don't like any particular answer you can always put the answer down by giving negative votes or not giving any votes to it at all. In this way you are keeping the right answer up.

As far as making the posters aware of the voting system, we will let them know through various announcements. We are sure they will catch up with time. Besides, anyone can vote (not only the OP), so if you feel some answers are wrong then vote the correct answer to the top so that the OP gets to read the correct answer first. Thus we are avoiding unnecessary discussions by ranking the best answer. This kind of answer and vote model is being practiced by most of the websites these days and we too are trying to do the same.

We will however continue to have the moderator/pub forums as usual.

As always we look forward to your cooperation while we transform from being a discussion forum to question answer platform.

Jason
