Is it legal for them to contact my boss or work place? How do they get the number? And, also, it seems like they have been calling other people's friends and family? Is that right? How do they even get their numbers?

Frontier Financial Group is a collection agency. As per the FDCPA, they cannot contact someone else for your debts irrespective of whether the person is your friend, family member or your employer. Thus, it is illegal for Frontier Financial Group to contact your employer for your debts. Well... it's difficult to say how the collection agencies get the contact details of your near and dear ones.

Depending on your teh state you live in it is legal for them to contact you at work, until you tell them otherwise. You can do this verbally or in writing. Review your state regulations. As far as how they get your relatives and friends phone numbers, well lets say that there are companies out there that gather and sell this data to organizations like this. There is a lot of information out there and if you are not careful, you would be surprised as to what degree of information regarding your personal life is accessible and public. You probably already figured out, but I work for a Collection Agency, and I deal with organizations that sell information on a person that owes a debt and that we have not been able to find nor contact.

Keep getting phone calls from this group saying that if I don't pay certain amount on the date that they are going to turn me in to the local law office here. Can they do that? They call 6-10 times a day and never leave a message. One of the numbers they are using is a local number. Can they do that?
