They say "I am calling for xxxx xxxx, if this is not xxxx xxxx, there is no need to return call. I am calling to collect a debt. I can be reached at 866-679-4046 at extension 204."
So, do I call back? I'd rather know who they are affiliated with before I call back. The only one I am most concerned with talking to is CashNetUSA because they are legal, BUT they won't work with me on payment plan (not one that I can afford anyway).

I dealt with them when they were sending collection notices to my daughter for unpaid medical bills that were already paid. I sent them a cease and desist. You'll need to talk to them to see what they're calling about and then take it from there - or not.

I've dealt with them. They purchase a lot of old, out of SOL debt. Have you received your first dunning letter from them? If not, you might pick up the phone just so they make the contact. Don't acknowedge the debt even if you do recognize it. They will be required at that point, within 5 days, to send you written notice of the debt they are attempting to collect and starting the 30 day clock ticking for you to request validation. Send a simple, dear so and so ... I am requesting validatoin of this alleged debt, blah, blah sincerely yours. My experience was they folded after that and I never heard from them again. For me, they came out of the woodwork when I was applying for a mortgage. The letter was addressed to my maiden name for an account that had to be at least 18 years old. They were surely reaching :)
