calls at work are causing tension

I live in Texas and I keep getting calls from someone who claims to be an attorney with Davis and Clark, number is 1-888-245-0140. He always asks if I have been served with papers or a summons yet, and that I am going to have charges of Theft of Services pressed against me for a payday loan that I had to default on about two years ago. I asked him to send me copies of the original loan and he just yelled and said he would see me in court, I asked him not to call me at work because my boss isnt keen on personal calls, yet he calls at least twice a day, today i received a call from someone different who claimed to be a process server notifying me I had until the end of business today to call the same number or I would have charges filed against me. I dont have a problem paying the loan back since it was only for $300 and my financial situation has brightened since then, but I dont want to deal with this guy to do it, do you have any advice for me? I would really appreciate it. thanks

Don't pay this guy a dime. If he's not willing to send you a validation letter of the debt in the mail this is a scam! He's just trying to get your banking information. I'd file a complaint with the FTC and report the phone number. It is very difficult to get this people to stop calling almost impossible. They tend to use throw away phones making it difficult to trace where the calls are actually coming from. Tell you employer that you've been a victim of a scam.

Also a process server would never call and threaten with either call today or charges will be filed. Process serves are just that, they serve papers. Ideal threats to see if they can get you to pay.

My ex husband is a process server/private investigator. Trust me....there is NO WAY IN THE WORLD that he would call someone ahead of time and let them know that he was going to be serving them papers...it's all in the element of surprise. Once you let someone know that, they aren't going to answer their door for you. And if the paper isn't served, he doesn't get paid. Big Red Flag if they call you and tell you that. Sounds like a scam to me!

Please follow all of the good advice given above, esp. letting people here know the name of the PDL, how much was borrowed, etc. It's entirely possible there's people here who've dealt with the same company. Are they bothering your co-workers as well as you? If they call again, just hang up, they can't argue with a dial tone.

I had some very serious financial trouble about ten or eleven years ago, which finally got resolved about nine years ago. I just received my first voicemail message last Friday from "Clark & Davis" asking me to return a call to the same phone number. I haven't had ANY financial problems since my resolution nine years ago and couldn't imagine why I'd be getting such a call - especially from a law firm. The concensus here seems to be that this is a scam, but if you have had any new developments, please post - I'd be very interested to learn more. I did find it odd that I could find no Law Office of Clark & Davis on the internet, so the scam theory would make a lot of sense. Please keep us all up to date!

I researched this company after being contacted a day ago about fraudulent charges against me. They said that I was being investigated for fraud. They talked so fast I could barely understand them. I called the number back and the answering message said Davis and Clark. They had contacted not only me, but my mother, both at her phone number...not mine. What I have found is that this is a scam! They have recieved information from payday loan companies that people do owe money to, and are using that information to scam people. So please do your research on this and do not give them ANY information!
