garnished wages midland

I just received a check with garnished wages and assuming that it was a debt that i was already paying on I immediatly paid the remainder. After looking just a little further into this I found that Midland Funding was collecting on the same debt that i paid to another company. They are also charging me for court and lawyer fees. I had no idea there was a court date and the total they are trying to get from me is more than 10 times the original debt. Is there anything I can do about this? What should I do next? Thank you, any help is appreciated.

Did you receive a summons?? Look up in the court records how and when they served you. If you were not served, motion the court to have the judgment set aside for lack of service.
