I took a payday loan back in December from Lakota Cash. They were debiting my account $150 every two weeks. I couldn't pay back the full thing, and they wouldn't work with me. They are now telling me I owe $582.00 in full or they will garnish me. What do I do? I live in Colorado. They have taken well over the $500 I orignally borrowed from them.

You haven't mentioned the state you live in. You need to check out if payday lending is legal in your state or if they are licensed to operate in your state. If Lakota Cash is not legal in your state, then you'll be liable for paying only the principal balance which you've already paid off. You won't be liable for paying any other fees or charges.

well first thing is you get a WAGE ASSIGNMENT REVOCATION letter to your HR,or payroll person asap.lakota is not legal and they will submit a wage assignment.that is not a garnishment and is voluntary and revocable.do that as again lakota will submit that to your HR/payroll person.being as they are illegal they can't,and won't garnish as that takes a court order.draft that letter asap as from seeing on this site they will try the wage assignment.
