I have been inundated by NCO Financial on a credit
Date: Fri, 04/22/2011 - 08:45
Since then, I have been repeatedly getting calls...3 times a day...to home, portable phone....and finally have had enough. Last night, NCO called at 6:15 and was told by others that I was not available and the phone was hung up. NCO called a second later and again was told I was not available...this time by my 13 yr old son who politely refused to respond to any of the caller's questions. He was asked his age, what school he goes to, what grade...and does he screen phone calls for his father. If this isnt bad enough, the caller called him a LIAR after my son refused to answer any of these personal questions...even after he made it quite clear that he NEVER gives personal information over the phone...no matter who it is calling, regardless if it is in reference to his dad or mom.
My children have been taught by my wife and I, all his elementary & middle school teachers, police officers who speak at his schools, and other authority figures NOT to ever, ever tell anyone personal information regarding himself, or family on the phone or internet...especially to strangers...and one calling him a liar when he refused to say anything.
I am going to send a ceast & desist letter to NCO Financial...but I have to believe that they crossed the line of some form of ethics or morality when calling a 13 yr old a liar...and trying to get VERY personal information from him even after being told they are not privy to this information.
Am I just naive or has NCO truly crossed the line. And after my son hung up the phone...the same person called again and my mother finally had to tell him that I am not here and if you want to leave a message then do so now....

A couple of questions. What state do you live in? How long has it been since you made a payment on this account? Have you ever received anything in writing from NCO?

At the risk of being vulgar, I will.
NCO is the proverbial turd in the punch bowl.
They are very rude, condencending and arrogant.
A sewer roach has more class.
I speak from experience.
Got the calls from them on behalf of crap one, the worst of the worst.
So then I went on the offensive.
Took me a while to figure out where the punch bowl turds were located..
I went on the offensive by asking them the physical address of the office and started recording the calls. Said that I would post a link to the recordings at all of the crapone sucks websites and youtube.
The short version is that I said that we will meet face to face and discuss the matter.
I really think that I spooked the guy and everything changed for the better after that.
In my opinion, don't back down.....attack and take the offensive!
Good luck & keep us posted.

Hi Ohio Gal1
Thanks for your reply....I live in Maryland just outside of DC....and about 10 minutes from Cap One where NCO Financial is trying to scare me into paying the debt.
Funny thing is...another debt collector sent me a summons for a court date in a few weeks on the same debt...answered their questions and will go to court. I am in a major dispute w/ my former ex partner on a real estate project that could force me into bankruptcy if the lender goes that route...so far they want to work with us..
But, I made a decision on not paying my credit card debt even after I called all of them and asked for a lowering in interest rate and a possible payt plan....some said yes...others were less inclined. The ones that said yes...I am paying every month and still use only for emergency purposes...all others I closed.
I made a payt on the Cap One in 2009 for awhile until my business started having major problems and legal issues became more of an issue with partner...
Already know credit score sucks....but have paid off or negotiated most of my secured debt and even offered Cap One 40 cents on the dollar....was told no by the other bill collector who filed suit against me.
Fortunately, my family has protected me when my father passed away and until all debts are finalled...just taking care of my kids and moving forward with life in a positive way

I think the cease and desist letter is a good idea. I would also suggest you find a consumer attorney in your area who will work on contingency and sue the bastards for violating the FDCPA. The two repeat calls (to your son, then to your mom) are violations. The harassment of your son is another one. That's 3 that I count just in that one evening.
