The lawyer who was hired by Midland. Before the first pretrial i asked for verification of the debt. She didnt show with the anything the first pretrial. Judge told her to get it info and bring it to the next one. The second pretrial she (Midlands lawyer) showed up with the six statement copies..(She tried to talk to me before seeing the judge but I still didnt recall the debt.) she asked me if I had a closed head injury. lol..the judge sent us on our way and said it would go to trial. Trial is next month. I was going to hire a lawyer but its more than the debt to hire. I also just recently got a class action lawsuit from a group that is suing Midland for using false information. I got in on the suit...(not for the money because it will only pay out $10 dollars a person) but for the fact that I thought it may benefit me in court....not sure. im at a loss...Im trying to be my own lawyer and I am just a little fish trying to swim with the big fish. ANY help would be so appreciated. I feel like i am a criminal..when all I want is some REAL proof that this is my debt. Is the copied statements that they came up with enough? I really dont remember this debt. I lived in a few different places over the past 5 years and I just dont remember it.

Having a hard time posting, but to your question about who provided statements...HSBC or Midland. Midlands lawyer provided it. I called HSBC to get all the info on my debt..they have nothing...it was sold to Midland funding. I also just recieved a notice about a class action lawsuit against midland funding for making up information in order to collect. Would being part of that suit help? court is next month. All i want is verification of the debt...are the statements all they need? how to i go up against lawyers..I have no idea what i am doing.
