am in a debt settlement program and national recovery swithced on number on my old account number now it looks like i have two outstanding loans instead of one the lawyers in the debt settlement are trying to get it straight but they to think it is another debt which i do not have national recovery called and left a message while i was at work extremely rude and arrogant i,too deal with the public everyday had i been as rude as that i would be fired are they legally allowed to threaten and be condescending and arrogant

No the collection agencies are not allowed to make threats to the consumers under the federal laws. If you don't owe any money to national recovery, then there is no need to pay any money. But you need to check whether or not the collection agency has been assigned with any account of yours. If you actually owe money to national recovery, then it will be wise to settle the debt.
