You responded to my previous post. I have a storefront Advance America; I requested an epp and was denied; I also called the corporate number and they did not help me. I received a voice mail Saturday telling me to come in today to pay finance charges and late fees. I have been paying finance charges every payday for over a year. I can't afford it anymore. The last thing I want to do is go back to the store. My checking account is closed. The cashier said she would cash my check if I didn't come in today. Am I going to get in trouble? I want to pay the principle I owe- I have paid so much in finance charges over the past 14 months. Is my best option letting them cash the check and being sent to collections? I don't want to get in trouble and I am a wreck. I'm in Texas too. Thanks!

Though payday lending is legal in Texas, as far as I know, Advance America is not licensed to operate there. Thus, they are illegal and you won't be liable for paying any late fees or finance charges to them. To know more about how you can deal with illegal payday lenders, check out the given page: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/illegal-pdl-dealings.html

Finally paid of Advance America on Monday. Is this an internet loan? If so this is what i did. I did live chat with them and asked for the collection department. When they asked why I told them i was unable to pay on the loan. Another rep came on the line (very nice) and offered me a 4 payment plan to be debited on Monday's instead of Friday. They would not extend beyond 4 payments either.

The customer service reps WILL NOT HELP YOU!!! They are programmed to tell you you have 7 extension blah blah blah. Get on the live chat(i think they close at 5pm) and ask for Collections. I did this at work and no one was the wiser. Good luck to you. Please let me know if it worked.
