I am in the same situation only I am getting garnished leaving me with 300 a week to pay my own bills. My ex owes me over 25000 and our fine and dandy state of neb, sarpy county child support dipsticks that cant do their job.... i am now being garnished for a bill that is from 1997 which is way past the statute of limitaions. I would like to know why and how that sarpy county can even authorize this as the decree states this is his bill, not mine.
Is this a garnishment or a wage assignment? They are different
Is this a garnishment or a wage assignment? They are different processes with the same appearance. Did you go to court or get summoned to go to court? If so, you will need to work with your local courts. If not, ask for a copy of the letter that your employer received to forward the funds. If it is a wage assignment, you can revoke it by sending a letter to the creditor and providing a letter to you payroll department.
