I am being sued by a Law firm which will not tell

well if you were served a summons then the plaintiff should be on it.were you served?if so then you must request a contiunance.check with the court clerk on this.if you were properly served you must do this.if not the creditor will get a default judgement.

The sherriff left the summons with my mom and my mom wasnt able to tell me all the details at the time. What is default judgement? and would it go as far as garnishing my wages?

well a default judgement is where the plaintiff gets an automatic judgement because the defendent no shows.a judgement by default.btw what county is your mother in?in COOK COUNTY only you can sign for a summons.everything else is improper service.just check on how to file for the continuance.get that going.

Well my mother live in cook county and she told me they just asked for me and she told them I didnt live there but they still left the papers there in the mail box

one more question.were you living with your mother?either way they must get a signature on the summons.they just served you improperly.check with the court clerk on how to set this aside for improper service.cook county requires they serve you personally and get your signature.anything else is not proper service.again check with cook county court clerk to see how to halt this.again you were not properly served.
