As per the Missouri laws, payday loans are legal. However, you can have a talk with the Missouri Division of Finance in order to know whether or not the payday lenders are licensed to operate in the state. If they are licensed then you need to pay them the full amount including the fees. If they are illegal, then you need to pay the principal balance only.

Some of those are legal and some aren't. I am guessing Advance America and Ace Cash are, because they followed my state laws pretty strictly when I tried to loan from them. I live in Washington, and they wouldn't loan to me because I already had a loan out (in WA the max you can have is one at a time). Speedy Cash also wouldn't loan to me, which makes me think they are legal too. Advance Me Today did, which makes me believe they are illegal. A good rule of thumb too, is that if they are storefront they are probably legal. So you're first step is to figure out which ones are licensced in your state, and legal, and which ones arent. Your next step would be to try and work out a payment plan if you can with the legal ones. For the illegal ones, the stickys at the top of the forums list list some good starting steps. You need to write a letter or email, and send it to each one, stating that their loan is illegal, and you want them to stop contact with you, except by email. There is a templete in one of the forums that is really helpful. Also, before you send out those letters, its a good idea to go to your bank and change your bank account #, so that they can not get any more money from you. Good luck, just stick with this forum, do some research and you will be just fine. Soon, very soon, your paychecks will be all yours. You may get some harrasing phone calls, but its still a great feeling, not having money taken from your paychecks by these damn companies. Good luck.
