collecting paid debts

that time but paid it, because it was long time ago i don't have the receipt..usually if you owe certain co. it will not be this long wait to collect it. they even threatin me to report to credit bureaus. how will i end this

In this question you have not mentioned what kind of debt you have. Since, you do not have receipt, so it is not possible for you to prove that you have repaid debt. Hence, it is better to contact with your creditors and request them to settle the issue.

well sally.it is not up to the person to prove they don't owe the debt,but whoever is calling to attempt to collect it that they do owe it.i'm assuming the OP has received nothing in writing.also the threat of reporting it to the credit bureaus is my first sign of a bottomfeeder.if it isn't on the OP'S credit report chances are high that they don't owe it.i would advise the OP not to even engage and to demand something in writing before even proceeding.also i have to ask if the OP has any numbers,or a name attached to this place.again a BIIIIIIG red flag with the threat of reporting it on your credit.

Paul is correct in what he is saying. The burden of proof is on the collector, that is the purpose of a debt validation letter. You need for them to prove that this debt is valid. Do not admit to anything.
