I need help paying off payday loans.

I am trying to pay off payday loans here. Found out I got scammed by a company and paid the wrong one. Meaning they had called me, I said oh yes I do owe that creditor and I paid them.
I called the original creditor and they told me they sold it to another company national credit adjustors. I called them and they told me "we have no files or debts on you." Okay, so what now? Then I get a call from Thomas and bella associates, made a payment with them only to research them and find out I could have been scammed. Ugh.
I hate it when I try to do good it backfires. I am trying to clear up all the debts here but these fake collections are calling me and I don't know who is who anymore.
It doesn't help that the original creditor won't take payment and give me a number and only to have them tell me they don't have my info at all and that if they did they could have told me who they sold it to! So, there's no way to find out who got my file and I could've possibly paid the wrong one!!! Ughhghg

I'm wondering if your bank would have a transaction history you could collect information from - i.e. if you used a credit/debit card, there would be a record of to whom the payment was made. If you used a check, you should be able to acquire a front/back copy of the check with the deposit information on the back.

How do we find out if a company is legit
Spoke with cash net usa numerous of times and they have told me that I need to be careful who I make payments too and also spoke with a fraud dept and said I could file a complain if I would like, but that would not stop the calls. blech!
