This started when I responded to a solicitation by One Hundred Day loans. They said they could help me get funds and pay back in 100 days. I completed the preliminary app and was directed to lenders that would lend 500 -$600. I took out a total of 1600. But my local TV news channel ran a story on illegal unlicensed lenders and how they were taking more money than was owed. I immediately checked to see if the lenders were licensed here in Oregon and they were not. I also found consumer complaints filed against them. I emailed them and told them not to deposit the funds or I would an ACH on my account. I checked my account and they had direct deposited 1600 into my checking account. There were 2 for $500 and 1 for $600. I had taken a direct deposit loan through my bank and these deposits triggered their payback reducing the amount to just over $1400 in my account. I immediately went to my branch put an ACH on that account and opened a new account. The lenders all responded to my email that they would reverse the loan but when they came up against the ACH they turned me over to a collection agency. I made arrangements with this agency to pay back the money before I read some info in the forum to not acknowledge the debt over the phone. And now I am getting threatening phone calls from people with thick E. Indian accents saying that they are investigators or attorneys threatening to sue me for check fraud among other things. I filed complaints with my states attorney general but do not expect to hear from them for at least 2 weeks. I know it was not smart to use the money but I have been without transportation so bought a motorcycle. Anyway, that's the pitiful story. I can't believe I fell into this trap. I do work part time and freelance as a photographer, hence the need to get around.
