Hi Stanley! how are you today??? snow storm in memphis, the snow is really coming down here!
Anyways, in my situation, ???payment after charged off/collection' means that the account was sold. I have a few 'Dell' accounts that are reading this now, since the credit bureau did their update. I haven't made any payments since the beginning of the charge off state. They were showing a balance and now they're showing '0'since the update.
anyone else care to share an input here? Shirley
A payment made to a charged off / collection account has brought
A payment made to a charged off / collection account has brought back the debt into the legal collection period. You have to continue your payments till the debt is paid off and avoid any actions against you.
If you get a collection call or notice on charged off debts that has been already paid by you earlier, dispute the debt in writing as soon as possible.

Hello All! I wasn't sure where to post this so i'm sticking it here. My husband had an Orchard Bank card that I settled on March 31st 05 before charge off. I have a bill that says min payment due by 4-7-05 & a western union receipt for the settled amount on the 31st. Husbands CR TU & EQ (don't have EXP)say charge off May 05. Do I go to Orchard with this or CRA's. Thanks for your time! Rach

Rach,
You can contact any of them. Suppose you have sent your correspondence to your creditor and they fail to respond to your request. Then you can send a dispute letter to credit bureau asking to remove this entry.
Credit bureau will run an investigation and rectify the erroneous entry accordingly. Or you can directly dispute the entry with bureaus without contacting your creditor. It's completely your choice. However, I would go for disputing with credit bureaus as some of the forum members have been benefited with this.
does that count negatively against you on your credit report?

Generally that is when you get the best offer. However, if you are not so concerned about credit score, people get lowest settlements after charge off with collection agencies.
