Just received first letter (120 days past due) on 30k AmExp account...should I try to negotiate with them now?

Will AmExp or Allied send a settlement letter in another 2-3 months??

Did you settle with AmExp directly or Allied? I have read Allied are the worst of the worst...wonder if I can call AmExp or is it too late?

Don't settle. Contact your state's consumer protection department (or board) and submit a complaint. Get a letter in writing from Allied. I was able to successfully sue AMEX for harassment and have my 10K credit card bill ERASED as a result of me having multiple grievances with my state's consumer protection board (part of the Attorney General's office), the FTC, and the state banking authority.

AMEX is notorious for hiring the two worst collection agencies on the planet: Allied Interstate and Mitchell N. Kay. The lawyer from Mitchell was spooked when I sued him and knew his home address and educational history. Dont take crap. Know your rights. If 7 years have past and the record has fallen off your reports, DO NOT PAY! It's no longer reported to the agencies.

COntact me and I will give you the 411 on how to stop the calls and sue these bastards.

First calls from Allied and now letters from Jaffe and Ash which was one of firms involved and fined with "sewer service" = filing false affidavits of service to get quick judgments!
