Reposession

We signed a contract with a "Buy Here, Pay Here" car lot for my husband's SUV. Shortly thereafter, our account was sold to a finance company. We never signed any papers with this new finance company. We were two payments late, and the finance company reposessed the truck, without ANY notice given to us that they were going to do so. We live in the state of Virginia. Is this legal for them to do, since we didn't sign with them and they didn't give us any notice whatsoever?

Read your contract from the original lender. It more than likely has an assignee clause, allowing them to sell the note.
