Travis, to answer your question, A month or so ago I began sending validation letters to all collection agencies on my credit report. These were a variety of debts, a few were, a few I believe my exhusbands, and a few I truly never heard of. I have so far had 4 companies respond in the 30 day period stating due to being unable to validate the information that is required they are having all 3 credit bureaus remove this information. I even received a couple apologies. Validation works, some debts are sold so many times that they simply HAVE NO PROOF TO ANY OF THIS DEBT, but maybe a name and a social, well that proves nothing. I have also had one removed by the credit bureau as the debt was attached to an address I have never resided and the company GLC collections, could not provide them any proof, they removed this immediately. Good luck to you TravisTrittFan, I wont stop till mine are all gone.

Multiple incorrect entries in your credit report are hurting your scores. After all the incorrect ones are removed from your file, you will surely see an increase in your credit scores.

Send a dispute letter in the same way as you sent earlier when an account with wrong address was linked to your file. This time, there are many items that need to be highlighted and the bureau has to verify each of them. You will see the results of this action within 30 days and a free copy will be sent to your mailing address.

After you have got the corrected copy with the legitimate accounts in collections, you can call the companies and make payment arrangements with them. Once they are paid off, they will further increase your scores. All the best.
