Unable to provide account information

They were not able to provide me with details or even validate the account. They said it was up to me to validate the account - is this correct? Is it up to me even after I ask for this information to be sent to me?

Total BS. Send a written DV via certified mail return receipt requested. You cannot verbally ask for it. Per the FDCPA they must either validate or cease collections.
