I am 110 day late on their account. When this whole process started it was a chase card then capital one bought them over so now i'm dealing with pain in the ass capital one...GRRRRRR

When I called yesterday the women did tell me they might just might but not 100% positive but they may talk settlement after the 121 day and for me to call back..so i will wait and see what happens and if nothing I better figure something out to do to get payment in since i am not dealing with courts and lawsuits.

Oh man! Why do I have to deal with this company..mother when this who thing started I didnt have a discaover or capital one so i figured I will jump in and do debt settlement on my own,but i of course now ran into a hump now..blah

I really appreciate your post -- I will ck in and feel the same way -- not worth the legal side since this card balance is only 2k --

thank god its not higher -- but still felt it should have been easier to settle -- one thing I am learning is not all companies are the same --

CHRISSY: I too have too thank my lucky starts that this cap one card is not my highest one..as my highest card was (gasp) 17,000. If it would have changed hands to cap one I would have fell over dead. And my second highest is 7,000 and thankfully was not discover or cap one (thank you lord) but the cap one is at 3,800 which is not totally unreachable to be paid off in a few yrs if they are unwilling to settle when i call ten back at the 120 day mark.

ok -- so now i get a $50 debit card in the mail from capital one -- it is from them saying for contacting them I would get the card activated --
on the back it has the regular info for settlement -- over $600 gets reported to the IRS -- but on the settlement info it says anything that gets settled the balance would get charged off and listed as settled with outstanding balance -- what good is that?

Hi,

I'm also trying to settle with Capital one. I'm at 210 dpd now, and they only offered 75%. I'm waiting to get that in writing so I can counter. My balance was at $6400 and is now $7440 =X

I never settled with capital one. It was one of my smallest and I wasn't willing to go to litigation -- they constantly said there were no settlements --
Maybe if it charged off I would have better luck -- but I brought the acct current and the monthly pays are 35 -- so not bad -- and it will help rebuild my credit once I am done --

good luck to you

hi gawe,

I guess you got nowhere with them over the weekend.

I tried yesterday and they are still only offering a discount of interest and late charges after 147 days late.

It appears to me that the reps and supervisors (Cap One Services) have no control over the settlement, they never offer to present anything for review, just keep saying the only offer available is.... Dont know if it is computer driven or reviewed by someone on a montly basis but they are firm.

I quess we'll see what happens.

I am with a debt settlement company and they successfully settled with Cap one on 2 of my accounts.
The first one I owed 10395.18 and was settled for 3801.81
my second one I owed 5637.18 and was settled for 3096.54.
I am not sure how long it had been since write off but I can tell you that I started my program in 1/2009 and I was at least 4 months late on the balance with 10 grand. That was settled in july of 2010.
The card with the balance of 5 grand was settled in nov 2010. And I was 2 months behind in jan of 2009.
It was possible to settle with them. I am not sure about now.
Discover was a nighmare and they did take me to court, I settled out of court with them.
Good luck
