You need to file a police report using the number the person called you from. You need to tell the man, the next time he calls, that you know this is a scam and you have filed a police report.
And then, and this is the most important part, you need to NOT talk to them again EVER!
Debt is civil, not criminal. You can't go to jail for not paying a debt.

I think it???s a scam. You need not to worry regarding this matter. You can file a complaint against him to the State Attorney General or FTC. If he calls you back, then ask him to validate the debt. You can send a written notice to him for validating the debt also. Don???t share any personal information with him. Non-payment of debt is not a criminal offense. So, he can???t send you jail for not paying the debt.

Yes, these guys are unbelievable!! I have been getting these calls for about a month or two. They are relentless. They always call themselves "officer....."
with this thick Indian accent. If it weren't so annoying it would be funny.
Someone on here said to call them blocking the number, but I tried that before I read that post and these scammers must have a good phone system because they were able to call back on the same number wondering who was calling. Great, that's all I need is for them to have all three phone numbers of mine now. I tell them to bring on the lawsuit, yet they never do. I have also asked them who their client is and the date of the so called PDL was deposited. Twice they have made up a month and dollar amount but have yet to get anything right. It's just so annoying at work.
