Resurgence Financial LLC

I recently received a letter from an attorney stating that my judgement amount is accruing interest. It's over $3,000 (original was 1,700 something). I had no knowledge of any small claims against me. I was pointed to the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access. I looked up cases with my name and found that it was Resurgence Financial LLC that filed the Small Claims against me. I was not notified of this. I was served nothing notifying me of this and because of that I never showed up therefore I lost. This was in 2006 that the judgement was made. They have an old address listed. However that same year I was in charge of my grandmother's estate and had to go through the court system. So they did have my current address. I also filed change of address forms when I moved and that was in effect for several years. Yet I received nothing notifying me of this. The only way I got this letter was it was sent to the old address and I know the person living there and they forwarded it to me.
I've looked up Resurgence LLC and apparently I'm not the only one they've done this too. Someone else found out about a judgement and was never notified of it.

What are my rights here? I don't even know what it's for! I even had one other company file against me around the same time that FOUND me at the new address! We settled out of court. To my knowledge that was the only people I owed money to.
I'm just lucky they have not garnished my wages! I'm furious about this and wondering how they can do something like this without my knowledge!:twisted:
Does anyone know what I can do about this?
Thanks!
Mel

The court having your address for another case is moot. Also US
The court having your address for another case is moot. Also USPS forwarding is only good for one year unless you send in a new card every year.
You would need to go back thru the court and file a motion to have the judgment set aside due to lack of service.
