I have 3 storefront payday loans I recently (as in, yesterday) defaulted on. I took them in early June and took a major paycut and could nto make payments. They would not work with me, so I let it default so hopefully I can set up payment arrangements.

The loans are:

Advance America $500
EZ Money $500
Cash Zone/Cash Biz $500

My question is - will these people do 'field" collections and show up at my home or work? Anyone know or have any experience?

I have had storefront loans before (other places, like Cash Store) and never had anyone show up, but I did pay once it went to collections and paid it off. But I have read some stories online about people from Advance America showing up at one's home and homes of friends and neighbors, so now I'm panicking!

They may call you at your office or home. Check whether or not these companies are legal in Texas from Texas Office Of Consumer Credit Commissioner. If they are legal, then it will better for you to arrange an affordable repayment plan with you. If they are illegal, then pay only the principal amount.

I know when Rent-A-
Center was doing payday loans and I defaulted, the manager did come to my work and tried to collect. She kept demanding a payment and I kept tellling her no. I few weeks before she came in, I called her with my attorney's information. She still came in after that and knowing I filed for bankruptcy.

Thanks! I have never had anyone come visit me before, and I have had 2 prior storefront loans that went into default/collections before I paid them off.

I was just curious because I have read a *lot* of reports online about Advance America especially showing up at people's homes & jobs.

I am kinda surprised in today's world they would even do this, it seems like it would be a major safety issue.

Well, Advance America let me work out payments on my next payday.

Cash Biz/Cash Zone took my checks to the bank, and the branch cashed them even though I was already overdrawn... so now I am nearly $800 into overdraft. But I guess at least they are paid off.

Not sure about EZ Money. They don't seem to want to work with me at all.
