I have my first situation at hand where a crazy collection agency, or I'M SORRY, "mediation firm" is telling me I owe a debt. The place that's calling goes by Wade, Pace, Gavino & Associates. Has anyone heard of them? I can't find much info about them online, and what I do see leads me to believe they are scam artists. They are nasty and evasive when asked simple questions on the phone, and I just want to be rid of them.

They refuse to send me anything to validate the debt when asked on the phone, so I'm getting ready to send them a debt validation letter. My question is this: I'm trying to give them as little info about me as possible. The name they have on file for me is my maiden name. I'd prefer that they not have my married name, although I'm sure that information is relatively easy for them to find out at this point. Must I send a letter with my married name, or am I within my rights to sign my maiden name to this letter? If this goes to court, I want to make sure I didn't misrepresent myself in any way and ruin my chances of winning a case over something so seemingly silly.

Thank you in advance!

They are a mediation firm based in Atlanta. They provide debt collection services to their clients. You can get detailed information on them from their official website:

Send a debt validation letter in writing to them immediately. I think it will be better to send the letter in your married name. This way, if the case goes to court in future, then you may not any face problem.

I found that information about them, but I'm not even convinced that they are based in Atlanta. They only list a P.O. box. There is no physical address. The phone number they call from is an Indiana number. They also sometimes call from a toll-free number. They have a very bare-bones website that anyone could create. Their e-mail address is a free live.com address. Do you know for sure if they are legitimate? They certainly don't sound like it on the phone.

Are you sure about sending the letter with my married name? I really don't want them to have that information.

i do have a couple of questions.

1)are you in GA?
2)are you in IN?

you said the caller id sometimes shows up as an indiana number, but they are supposedly located in georgia.either way i saw their stupid site as well and being their is no indiana info they are spoofing their number.illegal, now what you do is demand something in writing.state you will not engage them until you do.hang up and wait.if they still call and you receive nothing use the basic info you have to file AG,AND FTC complaints.bottomline either they send you something,or you report them.that's it.

you get something in writing from the USPS from them first.this could be a phishing scam as well.if they are unwilling to send something then you don't even engage them.

They have just flat out refused to send me anything in writing. They hung up on me yesterday when I demanded proof. She actually said, "well, I can see you aren't taking this seriously." I probably shouldn't even let them bother me, but it DOES bother me. They e-mailed me something last week, but it wasn't proof of anything. Just a letter they drafted up in Word. E-mailed documents won't hold up in court, will they? Should I perhaps just ignore them all together? The only thing that bothers me is that they have located my parents' number and are bothering them. They don't have caller ID, so they don't know to not answer when they call. I want the calls to stop. I know I don't owe this. This debt rings no bells whatsoever. I can't even get an original creditor name.

first use the basic info to file AG,AND FTC complaints against this scam.then yes ignore them totally.an email is not something in writing.it must be via the USPS.

contacting other parties is also a violation as they are only permitted to call to get your contact info.nothing more.by calling your parents after they spoke to you is a violation.look into IN state law as in regards to recording calls as again calling another party after they already spoke to you is a violation.
