I got a voice mail this morning from 7 pm last night, said my first and last name. Person says she's Heather Thomas and has paperwork to serve me concerning a bad check. She said since she was unable to reach me via phone that day they will attempt to serve me them both at home and at work. She left a phone number and case number if I had questions and said it was some legal place, I couldn't understand the name. She then said my name again and said you have been offically notified.

Now, I have no clue what this is about. I don't know of any bad checks I've written. I did do a couple of payday loans, but with the help of a legal aid I was able to stop all those due to fees and just paid the actual amount borrowed b/c they were not legit companies though. I guess this was 3 years ago now.

When I try and call the number it's asking for a pin code, which isn't my case number and so I have no clue who this is and what it's about. I work for a dr. office and if I got served something here I'd be mortified and I'm not allowed to get personal calls at work even, so this is not good.

Any clue about this, the number she gave to call back was 877-410-6012... the caller ID was unknown number.

since you at least have a name do as SOAPLADY advised.they are a bottomfeeding scam that should be reported to your AG,as well as THE FTC.

This is a total scare tactic. As Soap Lady said, NOBODY who is going to serve you would call you the day before, they would just show up!!Think about it: if you had advance notice, does any intelligent person think you would be there the next day to get served??
Document every dealing you have with these people in a notebook you can keep by the phone. Record dates, times, etc. Tell them that you are not allowed to take calls at work and then hang up, no further conversation. If it persists, file reports with your local police dept and the State's AG office.
