Texas Single Mom in Payday Loan Cycle
Date: Sat, 07/16/2011 - 08:13
Currently, my checking account is -$690, and in two days, I owe $915 to the daycare facility or they will not be able to keep going to day care. Of course, I feel like one of my only options is take out yet another payday loan. (Last week, I tried to apply for a personal unsecured loan from Wells Fargo with my sister as a cosigner in order to get the funds to pay back all of my payday loans and get my current bills paid, but it was declined due to my bankruptcy 3 years ago.)
I have 4 PDLs outstanding right now. All of them are current, and they come due at the first of every month since I only get paid monthly. It's about $1000 that is coming out of my paycheck every month, so I'm swimming (er...drowning).
Here are my debts:
Cashnet USA (borrowed $1250, paid $797.51 in renewal fees)
EZ Money Payday Loans (borrowed $1325, paid $293.63 in renewal)
Check n Go (borrowed $1000, paid $516.98 in renewal)
Ace Cash Express (borrowed $1000, paid $927.93 in renewal)
I'm wondering if I should take out one more loan to cover me for the day care expenses and then close my account and start using my other one that I have at Wells Fargo (opened it when applying for the loan). Then go through with the letters and revokation of ACH transactions. Please help! What is the best strategy here? Thank you.

Hi and welcome!
You are in the right place. As one who at one time had 10 PDL's, I need to say the following: if you do get another PDL, the hole will only be dug a little deeper for you and you will have more of a mess to clean up in the long run.
My best advice to you is this: end the misery TODAY and start getting out of debt. Start by going to your bank and getting that new account. I also have Wells Fargo and it was actually quite painless to get a new account. They can put a fraud alert on your old account for you.
Make a list of all your bills and prioritize. Housing, daycare, the lights, etc come before paying off PDL's.
It's a lot of work, but you can do this, and we are right here with you. Stay strong!
