My parents recieved quite a few harassing calls from them asking for me when i was merely 17 years old and refused to talk with my parents. Thye kept calling and i refused to talk to them because i didnt know what the heck to do. They were quiet for awhile but a few days ago (i am 21 now) i got a bill in the mail stating that i owe 866.34 and the original creditor was ge money bank. I have NEVER done any business with them ever! I don't know what to do. I am very responcible and I think I would know if I owed this money. I think it is complete BULL SHIT! what do i do?!?!?

Double check your credit report.

Send them a cease and desist letter. Tell them you were 17 when they started calling and that you have never had an account with that bank.

Dear CA.

I hereby dispute this debt...I have never had an account with said bank. Also, I was a minor when you started collecting this debt.

Never contact me, my family or neighbors by any means ever again.

Hi,

In such a situation, it is really important for you to check your credit report to find out if there is any such debt listed on your credit report. If it is there and as you say that you never have had any such debt, send a debt validation letter to the collection agency.

If you owe no such debt, in all probability they won???t be able to validate the debt. Then send them a cease and desist letter stating that you are not responsible for this debt and that they should stop contacting you for the same.

In addition to that, dispute the debt with the credit bureaus to remove it from your credit report. However, if the debt is not there on your credit report you can directly go on to send a cease and desist letter to them. For sample letters check out http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/letters/

Hope this helps

Thanks,
