I got deeper and deeper into these payloan debts even to the point of borrowing money from other pdl lenders to cover pdl payments. I barely have nothing left on my paycheck and am unable to pay my other bills. I have a total of 7 payday loans and every week I am paying interest on them as I cannot afford to pay the principal. I am thinking of closing my bank account and would just call each one of them to see if I can make payment arrangements with them. Right now, my weekly paycheck is almost the same total amount the lenders will debit from my direct deposit every week. I have nothing left.

You are required to pay only the principal amount if the payday lenders are not licensed to operate in your state Illegal payday lenders can???t take any legal action against you. If you are in a financial crisis and can???t repay your debts in full, then you can contact with your lenders. You may try to negotiate with them to settle the debts on your own. If they don???t agree to negotiate with you, then you may enroll in a payday loan debt settlement program. The following link may help you in this regard:

I live in Maryland. The lenders are:
IEG owe 500.00 - paid 520 (80/week)
Greenlight owe 200 - paid 100 (100/biweekly)
US Fund owe 400- paid 120 (120/biweekly)
US Fastcash owe 300 - paid 450 (90/biweekly)
My Cash Now owe 500 - paid 345 (extending every wk)
Shamrock Marketing owe 300 - paid 450 (90/biweekly)
Discount Advances owe 300 - due this Friday
The biggest mistake I did was to borrow money from one lender to pay another lender. I need to get out of this mess so bad. Thanks for all your help.

You live in Maryland? Please check the State laws (in the first part of this forum), I don't know if any of those PDLs would be considered legal in MD. Looks like you've overpaid on some of them. As for the rest, if it turns out they are illegal, you're only morally obligated to pay the principle. I would also definitely suggest when you look up the State laws, that you write down the address and phone # of the MD Dept. of Financial Regulation in Baltimore and give them a call as soon as possible. Between them and this great site, I'm now PDL-free!

I too was in trouble with PDL's and live in Maryland. The Maryland Commission of Financial Regulation's phone number is 410-230-6100. Address is 500 North Calvert Street, Room 402, Baltimore, MD 21202. E-mail address is finreg@dllr.state.md.us. Payday loans are illegal in the State of Maryland. Call the Commission and they will get you started on the right track to be free of the PDL's. Hope this helps!!
