Can someone advise me what to do...I live in Michigan.
I have a creditor wanting to renew a judgement against me. I have tried in earnest over the years to try and settle for a reasonable amount for an amount that originally started @ $890 and is now a whopping $3000 and they have refused to negotiate or take what I was offering. What other recourse do I have to fight this? They have taken my state income taxes over the years, and have probably gotten well over $1000, but just keep piling on the interest.

Once they get a judgment against you, they are under no obligation to settle with you. Your amount is court ordered and the interest is also set by the state. They are within their legal right to renew the judgment. If you had paid on it over the years voluntarily, your interest wouldnt be so high.

What type of debt is it???

Renewal of judgments is very common, particularly if you have not complied with the terms of a prior judgment. I dont know what grounds they will assert before the court for a motion to renew, but most probably it will be based, at least in part, on your failure to comply with some term of the prior judgment by the court.
Have you fully complied with all terms of the prior judgment? Judges have this funny habit of compelling compliance with their orders.
