amex and nco

Does the letter say "sold" or placed or assigned. As a general rule , AMEX does not sell their accounts.

thank you for your post -the letter from amex says that they transferred the acct to nco for collections -- nco says they have been requested by american express to assist them in the collection --

so I guess its not sold -- maybe nco is amex inside collections? thought it was strange it was only 2 months past due

No, NCO is a third party collection agency...no relation to AMEX.

You owe a lot of $$$...they can send you to collections anytime you are late or past due.

I already got letter from amex saying they transferred acct to nco -- should I still send debt validation letter to nco -- they have the correct amts at nco --

I hear that sometimes when you send a debt validation letter to nco they go straight to court for a judgement

I wouldnt....AMEX has informed you that NCO is handling. DVing at this point would probably result in AMEX forwarding to a law office.
