I received a message from a Samantha Logan, who stated that she was a process server for the county in which I reside, stating that she was calling to set up a time for me to be served with an "affidavit to appear in a county court for a pending judgement hearing" and that I needed to be available btwn the hours of 12N - 4P and that I can be served either at home or my place of employment. The call back number they provided was 1-888-230-4530 if I wanted to know why I am being served. Is this an appropiate method in which to be served? When I returned the call; I got the mailbox of a Julie Walker. I also received past messages from a Mark Whitfield, who stated that I was "primary person of interest". I'm reluctant to give out personal info. A few years back, I was served with papers by a county sheriff; so I'm a little apprehensive about taking this seriously. Any suggestions and/or advice is appreciated. Thanks.
You definitely have the rights to know why you are being served
You definitely have the rights to know why you are being served with summons. However, the person calling you has stated that it is related to a pending judgment. I will suggest you to meet the person at the mentioned time and check out the details in this regard. You can clarify your doubts regarding the summons from that person.
