Requesting help with 6 PDL's
Date: Mon, 08/01/2011 - 08:39
All of my PDL's are internet companies. I have not paid anything on the principal, only the $90.00 renewel fee for 3 weeks. I'm debating on using a consolidation company like Town and Country or just doing it myself. I've already closed out my bank account on Friday, and I have not turned on my cell phone yet today, so I'm not sure if the calls have started. I would like to get a jump on this before they contact my employer for garnishment.
Company Borrowed Phone Number
Zip 19 $510.00 877-947-1947
Cash Yes $450.00 866-568-1419
Great Sky $300.00 800-750-7479
Fleet $300.00 866-275-5146
Gateway $300.00 877-618-5882
Longboat $300.00 800-310-1477
Thank you so much for any help.

Please let us know what state you live in. Are you saying you've paid $90 X 3 to each of these lenders? If not, please let us know how much you've paid to each. Don't worry about fee vs. principal. It's likely not going to matter in this case as I think most, if not all, of your lenders are illegal in every state.

I live in Illinois.
So far I've paid:
Zip 19 Does not offer extensions, so nothing has been paid to them
Cash Yes Paid $224.00 in extension fees
Great Sky $360 in extension fees
Fleet Paid $180 in extension fees
Gateway Paid $90 in extension fees
Longboat Paid $90 in extension fees.
Thank you.
As far as I can tell, none of your lenders are licensed in IL.
As far as I can tell, none of your lenders are licensed in IL.
So you owe:
CashYes - $226
Fleet - $120
Gateway - $210
Longboat - $210
GreatSky owes you $60 and as for Zip19, have you loaned with them previously and paid off the balance in full plus interest fees? If so, subtract any of those previous overpayments from the principal of your current loan. That's all you owe.
These are all illegal lenders. You should only repay the principal amount borrowed.
You will need to CLOSE YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT right away. Once the account is secure, send letters (email is fine) to each lender letting them know that they are not licensed to do business in your state and you will only repay the principal balance of the loan. You should also file complaints.

Amazing, I cannot thank you enough. I had been so upset and frazzeled. I have already closed the account, so now I will send them these letters and proceed from there. I'm glad I nipped this now.

Ok, so far I have:
1. Closed my bank account
2. Sent letters to all the PDL's
What would the next step be? Do I need to submit anything to Human Resources to prevent garnishments? Do I just wait for the PDL's to contact me via email as the letter requested, or do I call them to set up negotiations. Also, when it comes time to settle with them, how do I go about making payments? I don't want to give them an account number again.
Just out of curiosity I checked with mypaydayrelief.com and they wanted $1200 to consolidate and negotiate my PDL's. Once I got started and pointed in the right direction, I relized how much cheaper and easier it is to do it myself.

Did you include language revoking any wage assignments in your letters? If so, just print a copy of each of your letters and get them to your HR department. If not, send a follow up email letting them know you also revoke wage assignment.
Wait for them to contact you. They'll likely try to drain your account first and when the attempt doesn't go through, they'll call.
You can either pay via money order through the mail OR a pre-paid debit card. Just don't give them new account info or even let them know you have a new account.
You can file your complaints with the FTC and your state's AG's office as a next step or you can use that as a negotiating tool. Your choice.
Isn't it great to handle this stuff on your own?
Many of the "payday loan consolidation" companies out there are in cahoots with the PDLs themselves. I dont trust any of them :)

Two companies have replied back via email to work with me, but some have not tried to contact by phone or email. I do keep getting phone calls from a man with a thick accent from 201-203-9996. He has all my personal information and states that he's going to have me arrested due to fraud. He says it's going to be uploaded to the IL States Attorney office tonight and I will be arrested at work or home tomorrow. Should I be concerned about this or is it a scare tactic. The man states he's an officer on the NYC Police Force.
pay day loan
I would call yoru local police department and find out if you have any arrest warrants and tell them of the situation. I have been told that you can not be arrested for not paying a payday loan because it is not criminal it is a civil. But I would call your local police department and talk to them. I have been threaten and scared into paying 1200 dollars that i did not have to pay only to find out that it was a scam and this jsut happen last week. I have filed a complain with the www.ftc.gov, and my local commission of financial regulatory against my pyday loan. I am also changing my home phone number. I would also look up the phone number on google that has been contacting you. It is against the law for them to make threats of you being arrested over the phone.

Any luck with longboat? I too have a PDL with them and they've hit me with the $90 2x now. I got an email from them the other day stating they were changing there name to the cutter group. Did you get a response? thanks

I have received a letter from National Credit Adjusters stating they have purchased the debt from Longboat. I'm in the process of contacting them to set up terms for the $210 ($300 - $90 extension) that I owe. Not sure if they are going to work with me or not, but I will keep you posted.
DON'T! Send them a validation request before you pay anything.
DON'T!
Send them a validation request before you pay anything. This is an illegal loan. You do NOT have to pay ANY third party collector on this loan.
Thank you, I will send the validation request tomorrow.
