Any good settlement company is going to do its best to ensure that you will settle out of court. We always recommend that our clients file an answer to avoid a default judgment, and we also instruct them how to do so. I'm assuming that your settlement company will do the same for you. Yes, do respond to the summons. I also suggest you contact GE yourself and try to settle this account before a trial date is set. Make sure you get any agreement in writing.

Why would you pay someone to do something you can easily do for yourself and save lots of money?

how long were you past due with GE money -- I'm just a few months but got something sent certified to me today -- I did contact them sat and they had said they would have my acct for a while --

Most debt settlement companies wont do squat once the courts are involved. You need to check your contract.
