Has anyone received a call from a Melissa or Amanda stating that they have a complaint in their office against you and you should give them a call back at the following number (716) 712-5944.

i googled that number and it comes up as a cell number.anyone called by this person(and i use the term loosely)needs to file a police report using that number,or the number if any that shows up on caller id.either way this smells of scam, and should be treated as such.file the report and do not call it,and ignore future calls from them.

They are Eastpoint Recovery Group, in Buffalo, NY. It took a little work to find out who it was, and there's hardly an ounce of information on the Internet. They claim do repossessions and civil suits (I find it hard to believe the have the capability to file civil suits). They appear to be very secretive, so obviously they're pretty shady.

Thank you guys.

Thanks for the name of the company. This is good so I can be sure to add a company name along with the name of the individual and phone number on my complaint.

They left me a message this morning as well, it sounded as if she just rolled out of bed. This is by no means a legit company.

This company has been in contact with me recently. I did have a credit card through HSBC (Best Buy) it honestly had slipped through the cracks in our finances. For some reason I was not receiving anything from them. It went through collections without me knowing. Again no contact what-so-ever until this company calls me about 2 weeks ago saying I owe them $2400 or they are suing me in two days. Well I didn't have the money so I never called back. They didn't sue.

Got a call Friday from a guy from Eastpoint Recovery saying if I didn't call him back by 3 pm Monday then they were gonna have to take action. I called back he told me all the info about Best Buy, HSBC. I asked who owns the debt now he told me Frontier Financial. I immediately asked for a Debt Validation just to see what reaction I got, and he went from trying to help me to pay to getting completely ridiculous over the phone with me. Now I have never admitted to them that I owe them this debt. He said he would send all the validation I needed to the courthouse today. So now I wait. I don't know if they were bluffing again, if they even can, I wish I knew how legit this company was.

I called my lawyer and told him everything. How they threaten to sue me plus pay for legal fees, and that they would even have a sheriff order to repossess the items. He told me not to worry because they more than likely don't have proof I owe them this, and that being it's only $2400 he didn't know how hard they would pursue it. He told me if they did then they would probably settle for something like 20%. Told me he would represent me if I'm served.

I also looked up both numbers that called me and they were both cell phone numbers as well.

What is up with this company.
