Debt Settlement w/Insurex?
Date: Wed, 08/10/2011 - 12:05
A few months ago, we started receiving letters from Insurex about the debt. As far as I can tell, the original lender wrote it off and Insurex picked up the debt and is now trying to collect. Probably need to file a debt validation letter with them - but anyway - last month they offered a 50% settlement offer, which we still don't have. We could maybe do $2k right now. Has anyone had any dealings with them? We'll need to do this on our own. Is $2k a reasonable starting offer? We'll probably be out of luck, but it's worth a try.
Thanks for reading/responding.
yeah, I would definately DV them. A $2000 offer is worth a shot

I agree - debt validation certainly can't hurt, and if you want to settle the debt, there's no reason they should have a problem accepting $2,000.00 as settlement in full.
If you decide to go this route, please be sure that you have something in writing before you actually commence a settlement agreement.
Best of luck to you!

Hi busgrrl,
Did you check your credit report is the CA listed there on the credit reports? Yes, it would be better if you could ask for a validation on this debt (send it through certified mail requesting a return receipt). In this way you will be able to retain proof that you did try to validate the debt and if they fail to validate it or if they don???t even respond, you will easily be able to dispute with the debt.
As for the settlement, I completely agree with what mariemegge has sad. It is important to get a written settlement agreement to retain it as proof.
Thanks,
