Back in 2007, I took out two internet payday loans.
Today, I received a voicemail from a woman telling me that my case was going to be turned over and I would be summoned for passing a bad check and breech of contract. I freaked out. I called the number back and it was for Oasis Marketing and they said they would drop everything if I paid them the $190. I did.
I called the other company, United Cash Loans. They said that my account just came up for audit today and that they have been trying to get in touch with me. I tried to set up a payment arrangement with them but she kept wanting to put my card number on file, I did not feel comfortable that they would take the money out only on the day I know the funds would be available so I told her that I would have to call her back. I am so scared that I will be arrested. Can I actually be arrested for this?

Hello and welcome!
No, you will not be arrested. This is a civil, not a criminal matter. What state are you in? You need to check and see if these businesses are licensed in your state.
If they are, then they could possibly file a judgement against you. If not, all you owe is the loan principal (what you actually borrowed).

United Cash Loans is illegal just about everywhere. If you've already closed your checking account, PLEASE do not give these people your new account information, credit card information, etc. Stick to your guns about setting up a payment plan if you owe them the principal on a loan, use a prepaid credit card, money order, etc. They are one of the companies that hide out behind an address on Indian tribal lands so they don't have to follow the law and are, unfortunately, one of the worst when it comes to nagging phone calls. File complaints with your State AG and financial regulatory agency; when UCL calls again, give them your terms and if they don't like it, too bad. If they call again, hang up.
