I am in a mess with Payday loans. I have one out with
Advantage cash services - Loan amount was $450.00 (They keep running drafts through my bank for (I have four pending from them and ready to be returned JUST TODAY.. one for $135, $120,$50, $50, and $30.. how can they do this? ) I am going to have a jillion bank fees for returned items. I have sucessfully paid three payments of 135.00 back so far and the last payment was returned now they are doing this. How do i get them to stop?

I am in California.

plain green loans - original amount $800 (two payments so far of $131.37)

Cash central- $300

SQL - $300

I can't click that website to see if they are legal in my state it didn't work. Can someone check for me. Also, Advance america's form says "you agree to the terms even if they are not in your state" Please give me advice on what to do to get out of this situation i can't afford all these fees. Thank you.

Hi melody,

Unfortunately enough, payday lending is legal in your state. You should contact the California Department of Corporations in order to find out whether or not the payday lenders that you've listed here are licensed to operate in your state. Their official website will be "http://www.corp.ca.gov/fsd/licensees/default.asp".

If you find that they are not licensed in your state, then you won't be liable for paying them any interest charges or other fees. Simply pay them the principal amount, come what may. Moreover, if they are not licensed, then they won't be able to take any legal actions against you. If the illegal payday lenders keep on harassing you, then you can even think of taking legal actions against them.

Take care

Cash Central is your only licensed lender. You will need to pay them according to the terms of your loan agreement or work out alternate arrangements with them.

The others are not licensed to lend in CA and you should only repay the principal amount borrowed. If you've already paid something to these companies, subtract what you've paid from what you originally borrowed and that will give you the amount you still owe. If you've already paid in "fees" what you borrowed, you owe nothing further.

Your first step will be to close your checking account so that your money will be safe. You can find details about what else you will need to do here.

Thanks for your help. So i have gone to the bank to close my acct. ; however, they take a couple of days to close it. If something ends up in pending before its closed it won 't be closed. I have not yet contacted the PDL places to revoke their authorization. Should the letters be sent via email or US mail and how do you ensure they receive them? How do i keep them from sneaking more ACH debits to my accout before it closes? Help! Thanks. I owe them but need t work somethng out for the principle amounts only. Advantage cash is trying to say i owe $800 when i really only owe $45 toward the principle since they are not licensed lenders in Calif.

Please advice. Thanks so much for all your help!
